Parent's Petition Removed To Have Iron Maiden Loving Principal Dismissed, Watch Video Analysis

The Metal Voice

Last week, Parents at Eden's public high school in St -Catherine's Ontario, Canada were are trying to remove the principal because she posted images on the school's social media displaying So-Called Satanic images.

The Schools social media typical posts over the years included school announcements, hobby tidbits about the school's staff and posts promoting diversity and inclusion.

As of Oct 11 2021 the parents petition against the Principal has been removed.

Watch yesterdays analysis of the incident on The Metal Voice with Jimmy kay and CTV News Senior Journalist Stephane Giroux. This video was made before the petition was shut down

Parents petition

The now removed parent's petition read like this

“This petition is not about Sharon Burns’ love for Iron Maiden. At no point has it ever been. This petition is about a principal of a school openly displaying her own handmade sign with the 666 clearly displayed on it which she knows full well what that satanic symbol means to the vast majority of families in her school and she put it on a professional, public @edenprincipal account on social media, not a private one, which she very easily could have done," the message reads. "If she had not posted a picture of her own handmade 666 sign, this petition would not exist. Nobody cares what band she likes and this is not about her choice in what she listens to. That would be petty and nonsensical. This is only about openly choosing to display Satanic symbols on a professional profile page.”

In response to the parents’ outrage, students rallied behind Burns with their own petition with over 14,000 names

“Eden High School is a public school. Not a Christian school. If you somehow don’t like the principal of your child, grandchild, relative etc.’s school, then send them to another one.”

The students further stated that Burns “spreads nothing but love and kindness, and is probably one of the best and most enthusiastic principals the school has ever had.”

The Principal's message on the Schools website reads

Hello, Eden High School has a rich history in the Niagara community. What started out as a private Christian college in Niagara-on-the-Lake in 1945 has grown into a public school at the former Lakeport Secondary School site in St. Catharines with a current enrolment of over 1000.. Principles of equity and inclusive education set the foundation upon which we develop positive school climates. Eden honours the unique experiences, cultures, viewpoints, and talents that make up each one of our students and staff members. Our strength lies in the diversity of these traits. To this end, we strive to remove barriers so that every student has the opportunity to succeed personally and academically in a positive climate that respects and nurtures students of all backgrounds, identities and personal circumstances.

Eden is a distinctive school. The Spiritual Life Centre offers chapel, grade retreats and so much more. Students from all over the region apply to Eden (see under the Guidance tab) and parents/families/carpools are responsible for getting students to and from school. There is no school bus transportation. Eden’s school uniform is outstanding and just went under a year-long review by students, families and staff to ensure that it is current, comfortable and affordable. We offer courses at the Applied/Academic level in Grades 9 and 10, and College, Open, Mixed and University level in the senior grades. Eden offers the Specialist High School Major program in four areas: Business, Construction, Sport and Automotive Technology. Our graduates take gap years for mission work or travel, attend colleges and universities, start apprenticeships and enter the world of work with skills necessary for happiness and success.

Our pursuit of excellence is evident not only in academics, but in the arts and athletics as well. We offer visual arts, drama, vocal and instrumental music as well as media arts. Eden High School athletics are a team in every sense of the word as they push themselves to compete against the best in Ontario. Our clubs are diverse and student-centered and our partnership with families through School Council creates understanding while challenging ourselves to be our best. Monthly Coffee-with-the-Principal opportunities allow for a two-way exploration and better formulation of Eden’s goals.

I welcome you to explore Eden via this website or follow me on Twitter or Instagram @edenprincipal.

Sincerely, Sharon Burns Principal

This article raises an interesting discussion about balancing personal interests and professional roles. In this regard, managing multiple responsibilities, such as academic work, can be overwhelming. If you find yourself juggling too many tasks, you may find it helpful to delegate some of your coursework. I highly recommend you take advantage of the services of MasterPapers where you can buy coursework. This can make working on complex academic tasks much easier and more manageable. Keep up the good work, covering such important issues!
