On Oct 2, 2024 U.D.O. rolled into Montreal, Canada and performed at Les Foufounes Electriques. The Metal Machine cranked out a set list which was comprised of the U.D.O. cream de la cream catalog as well as some new material from the bands latest album 'Touchdown' (2023) and two classic Accept songs.

For the past 30 something years Udo Dirkschneider been successful in turning his band U.D.O into a top notch celebrated band in the metal community. The band consists of The Tank (Udo) on vocals, co-founding Accept member Peter Baltes on bass, his son Sven Dirkschneider on Drums and Dee Dammers and Andrey Smirnov on guitars. And In some way strange turn of events U.D.O. has now become more Accept, than Accept with the addition of Baltes. Whereas Accept proper is left with just one co-founder, Wolf Hoffmann.

As for the set list, a mix of old and new U.D.O. songs. And judging by last nights super stoked audience reactions, one comes to the conclusion that U.D.O. songs have become just as loved as the classic Accept tracks, at least for this crowd.
Side note, the only U.D.O. member to be missing on stage last night was Sven Dirkschneider, the 30-year-old son of Udo. According to the band's official statement which was posted right before the band hit the stage: Sven left U.D.O.'s ongoing North American tour to return to Germany due to "private, personal reasons" and is being temporarily replaced by Sven's drum tech Matthias Kassner as seen in picture

Final thoughts, I was impressed how well the band performed U.D.O. songs and how well they have stood the test of time. Also this was not a Udo backing band, this was a tight cohesive unit. A mix of generations both young and old, with each musician's expertise standing on it's own. Lastly, Peter Baltes was a welcoming surprise, as he can do no wrong. I will say this again, most of all I enjoyed NOT hearing the same old Accept classic setlist. At least this time around.
