Anaheim CA, (January 24, 2024) – TOM MORELLO, legendary guitarist for rock bands such as Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, and Prophets of Rage, was inducted into the 2024 Metal Hall of Fame by guitarist and good friend John 5 (David Lee Roth, Rob Zombie).

"The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame was nice and all but getting inducted into the HEAVY METAL Hall of Fame last night by good buddy @john5official was a horns up helluva good time! Heavy metal music is the music that made me love MUSIC. Too many awesome metal memories to mention! Seeing Gene Simmons belch fire at my first show. Sitting transfixed and transformed seeing Zeppelin cast a spell on the Chicago Stadium at my second. Tripping out hearing “Eruption” for the first time. Watching Judas Priest open for KISS and convert every fan in the room. Losing my mind to Sabbath’s “War Pigs” and later to “Mob Rules.” Calling up every Boston radio station from my Harvard dorm and requesting “Looks That Kill” after seeing Motley Crue open for Ozzy.
Practicing 8 hrs a day staring at my Randy Rhoads poster. Everything about Iron Maiden’s Piece of Mind and UFO’s Strangers In The Night. Metallica causing a riot and kicking everyone’s ass on the Monsters of Rock tour. Slipknot crowds looking like alien weather patterns. Arguing with Eddie Trunk at the Rainbow about Salty Dog and Pretty Boy Floyd. Bringing my kid to AC/DC at Powertrip this year and realizing they’re still the best band ever. Last night was an honor because heavy metal is in the DNA of everything I’ve ever done. It’s about being true to yourself and not caring what anyone thinks. When other friends branched off into different kinds of music and left metal behind I said, “Oh, hell no. I can love and play other kinds of music too, but I’m not giving up the metal riffs and the metal solos. Metal’s what made me.” I remember strutting around my college dorm in my leopard striped spandex pants complete with bandana tied around the thigh wearing Dio elf boots, a be-zippered shirt and multiple spiked bracelets playing Grim Reaper’s “See You In Hell” on my gold Gibson Explorer and people going, “What’s WRONG with you?!” To which I replied, “I have complete confidence in my choices so screw you, one day I might even be in the Heavy Metal Hall of Fame.” Presto! The Gala took place at the 7th Annual Metal Hall of Fame Gala, January 24, 2024, at the Marriott Delta Garden Grove, Anaheim, CA. The event will be hosted by radio-television Icon and 2024 Metal Hall of Fame Inductee Eddie Trunk, and entertainment personality Cathy Rankin.
