"I got a phone call from Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) one day and Steve said to me what do you think of Bruce Dickinson. I said I think he is with the wrong band (Samson at the time), that was my comment. Steve said yeah he is an animal. Steve said listen I want you to contact Bruce and I want you to ask him to meet you at your next gig over at East London. Get him down there. I want you to give him this phone number and tell him to phone me. Steve said I can't do it myself because I am in Iron Maiden, I already have enough trouble with Paul Samson, unbelievable trouble. Steve said it is like a delicate situation. So I phoned up Bruce and I said I got a message for you from Steve. I want you to come down and meet me at my show. So Bruce turned up and sat down. I said there is a phone number here, Steve Harris wants you to phone him privately because I have a funny feeling that your life is about to change. I ain't making any guarantees no promises but reading between the lines if you don't do this you will be missing out on a great future. Do it, do it.I gave him the phone number and the rest is history."
